Come As You Are

Our Beliefs as Mennonites

At the heart of the way Mennonites express their Christian faith is the belief that Jesus is the Son of God. As the Son of God, Jesus' life is a model for our life decisions. As the Son of God, Jesus' death and resurrection offers us freedom from that which enslaves us so that we can live in union with God. As the Son of God, Jesus' teachings serve as the primary filter through which we interpret all of life.

We believe that the church is made of people whose sins have been forgiven and who choose to follow the way of Jesus. And as Christians, we attempt to relate to each other and the world in the same loving, forgiving way that Jesus practiced.

Here are concise statements of 7 basic beliefs we attempt to faithfully live as followers of Jesus Christ:

  • The Bible is central and our authority.
  • We gain new life in repentance and a renewed relationship in Christ.
  • Membership to the church and commitment to Christ is voluntary.
  • Our mission is to reach out to the world.
  • As a church, we are a family and belong to each other.
  • Following the way of Jesus, we live all of life peacefully.
  • We are also called to help others by giving of the many resources that God has gifted us with.
