We installed Brent Siegrist as our pastor on June 29. Before coming to Glade, Brent and his wife Katrina served as teachers at Rosslyn Academy, an international Christian school in Nairobi, Kenya. Brent served as elementary chaplain and Science teacher. As a teacher, he enjoyed planning hands-on activities to spark the imaginations of his students. In his free time, he liked to study Greek and Hebrew, teach his daughters about God and God's creation, and play soccer with other Rosslyn teachers. Trina taught English as a Second Language and Drama until the birth of Anneka and then Abigail. She enjoyed cooking exotic foods, quilting, playing guitar at Bible study, experimenting with various painting and calligraphy techniques, traveling in Kenya, and planning creative activities for her children. Their last few months in Kenya were difficult as the country temporarily disintegrated into widespread violence.
Brent is from Lancaster, PA. Trina is from Elkhart, IN. They studied together at Eastern Mennnonite University, where Brent also received his pastoral training. Brent and Trina feel excited about their new mission assignment. They are encouraged by Glade's desire to start new types of outreach and by the daily witness of Glade's members in their places of work. Anneka and Abigail miss their friends in Kenya, but they're eager to make make new friends in America. They also want to see a coyote. (They've already encountered a bear.)
